My name is Michael Utz, and I’m a front-end developer at Quentic. I moved to Helsinki from the US in February 2018, and I have been very fortunate to find a great team to work with at Quentic.
As a developer, I’m passionate about technology. I love code, devices, computers, etc. But, like many of our clients, I also take great joy in making or building things that are useful.
That’s why I’m so excited to be a part of the Quentic team. My own family members have been the victim of workplace safety issues. One of my grandfathers died in a mining accident, while another lost a finger in an aluminum factory. Both accidents could’ve been avoided with proper attention to workplace safety.
Data can be an incredibly valuable tool in determining how to make sites safer for the fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters that work together every day in high-risk industries. But the challenge lies in motivating ourselves and our co-workers to actually gather the data that could save their lives! And complicated or out-dated technology is a huge part of that problem.
So, I’m passionate about making interfaces for collecting and entering data about safety that are easy-to-use, easy-to-share, and that provide useful, timely information to help you save lives.
Quentic makes that possible for me, and I’m grateful to be a part of the Quentic family!
